My friends and family thought I was crazy!
I had always wanted to be a midwife. Then I met a friend who had just returned from studying chiropractic in USA and he was so excited about his profession he was on fire. So I spent a day in his practice. I thought chiropractic was about fixing back pain! Here he was helping a child with bedwetting, a pregnant lady with sciatica, an older gentleman with sinus headaches and a baby with colic. And I was so inspired. I wanted to go to work knowing that everyday I would be helping someone heal from the inside. So at the ripe old age of 18 I informed my parents that I was moving from Denmark to Davenport, Iowa, USA to study chiropractic. (I hope my kids will never do that to me). Two months later I was on my way. Initially I was in a state of shock; I didn’t know anyone, everyone spoke English – no Danish – and the course was all about rote memory, something I was never good at. But it improved very rapidly. I enjoyed palpation and technique classes the most, because this was when you got to connect with and touch people, which is what chiropractic is all about.
This still shapes the way I practice today: the connection with people, finding where there is interference with their ability to function optimally and helping them heal themselves. I particularly enjoy helping families and children, as they are our future.
I met Tim, my husband, at Palmer Chiropractic College, and we decided to check out the world together. So since 1989 we have practiced in Sydney, Denmark, Ipswich, UK and finally in God’s country; Newcastle. We have two lovely children; our daughter Signe, 13 and son Emil, 11. We have a lot of fun camping, bush walking and bike riding as a family. In the quiet moments I enjoy reading and solving the world’s problems with my girl friends.
Health wise I love exercising; running, gym, yoga 4-5 times per week. I get adjusted at least every two weeks, as do my family. I eat lots of fresh fruit and veggies, and actually like tofu. I do enjoy a nice glass of wine though, and the occasional piece of Danish liquorice.
Enough about me! How can we help you? Give us a call right now so we can help you take your first step towards better health.

If only my folks had known about chiropractic! I had so many headaches as a kid that I ended up with my very own peppermint-flavoured prescription elixir to take.
I chose to become a chiropractor after having worked on the recreation staff at a large oceanfront hotel. Enjoying the high level of fitness I maintained, I decided to make a career of helping others experience better health. The natural, holistic approach of chiropractic was the perfect fit for me.
I attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, where it all began back in 1895. I was surprised by the comprehensiveness of the course; everything from every part of every bone, muscle and nerve in the body to studying the countless pathologies of all our organs. I especially enjoyed the neurology and physiology courses, learning the details of how the magnificent body works. I also loved the hands-on chiropractic courses where we studied the practical techniques we now use to help people keep their bodies in peak working order.
The big idea at our practice is to help as many people as we can enjoy the best health possible by providing exceptional natural health care. We love seeing families; generations A-Z make up our extended practice family.
My wife Dorte and I came to Australia after chiropractic college at the suggestion of an Aussie classmate. We have been here most of the ensuing nineteen years and what was initially a “neutral country” option to Denmark and the USA has truly become home.
Our pigeon pair, Signe, 13, and Emil, 11, keep us busy through the week with their sports, drama and music and we share a variety of weekend family activities including camping, cycling and watersports.
My active lifestyle helps me get the most out of life. Not a gym junkie but I love riding my bicycle, my rollerblades and my surfboard. We try to eat as much fresh, healthy food as possible without being fanatical. I also look forward to my chiropractic adjustments at least every two weeks.
Thanks for visiting our website. I look forward to having the opportunity to help you with your specific health goals. Give us a call and we’ll arrange a time to explore your options.

I was the “sick kid”. As a child I constantly suffered colds and recurrent tonsillitis. On the outside I appeared to be a normal child. I ate right, played sport and was always at the top of my class; but on the inside it was a different story. It wasn’t until my family discovered chiropractic, when I was 10, that things dramatically changed… for the better. Regular chiropractic care saw me never to take antibiotics again (as I had frequently done so previously) and got me through winter after winter with no colds or tonsillitis! Once my family saw the remarkable improvements chiropractic had made to my health they too all became regular chiropractic patients.
The profound effects I saw chiropractic make to myself and my family inspired me to follow in the field of chiropractic. I wanted to help people and make a difference in their lives. I wanted to share the gift of chiropractic. I spent 5 years at Macquarie University in Sydney where I obtained a Bachelor of Chiropractic Science followed by a Masters of Chiropractic. I then spent the next several years practicing in Wollongong and the Central Coast before making my home here in Newcastle with my husband, Kurt.
I believe in a wellness approach to Chiropractic. Chiropractic is so much more than bad backs (as I discovered as a child). It is having a sound nervous system free of interference; allowing your body to function at its optimum. That is why I believe it is so important that children be checked by a chiropractor. I enjoy working with children and to ensure I provide the best care, I am continually updating my knowledge and skills in this specialized area.
Kurt and I embrace the chiropractic lifestyle. I enjoy keeping fit with yoga, pilates and rowing and relax my mind with regular art classes. We understand the effects of certain foods on our systems and therefore eat a balanced, wholesome diet free of preservatives and additives. And to make sure our bodies function at their optimum we have fortnightly chiropractic adjustments.
