Speech and Language Issues
I had been looking for answers since Isaac was a toddler. He’d had speech and language issues since age two. I had put that down to the fact that he suffered glue ear which resulted in four sets of grommets being inserted. Isaac had been a difficult toddler. Once he had started school, he struggled in the classroom, however, his problems were “unspecific” and therefore neither I, nor his teachers, knew how to help him – as a mother I just knew he needed something extra, but I didn’t know how or what would make a difference.
Aged 7 years at the time, Isaac was referred to Dorte Bladt, at the Family Chiropractic Centre in January 2007 by Susan Walton, Behavioural Optometrist.
I had not previously appreciated the benefits of Chiropractic, however treating the nervous system to ensure it works efficiently made a whole lot of sense. Dorte diagnosed a twisted skull and worked with Isaac to help ensure his Neural pathways, and his entire nervous system, were working effectively.
Isaac has also been working with Marlene Rose, Therapies for Life, who has written a program of various Brain Gym activities to help “cement” his new & improved neural pathways.
I am amazed and delighted at the change in Isaac. He is now coping academically quite well, his speech and language have improved to within normal limits for his age, his temperament is now much calmer, and his co-ordination skills have improved out of site. He is now a delightfully funny, intelligent, adaptable child and is more settled in the classroom.
I am so grateful that he was referred to Dorte. I found the answers I had been seeking for years!
I too, am having Chiropractic treatment as I have always suffered sinus problems, and thought that nothing could change that. The result is a huge improvement in my general health, and a much better understanding and appreciation of the nervous system and its effect on ones health.

Learning Difficulties
I am writing this testimonial to you to express my gratitude for all that you have done for our son, Liam. In Liam’s early years prior to school, I felt he was following the growth chart like every other young child and I never at any time felt there may be something wrong. Once Liam started school he seem to hit road- block after roadblock and it was becoming more and more obvious that he was struggling with the everyday activities at school, and at home, that most children would manage easily.
For the next two years Liam’s learning difficulties and behavioural problems become more magnified. His school work was suffering, he was becoming frustrated and angry and his self-esteem and confidence were badly affected. After changing Liam’s diet, trying natural medications such as Eye Q Gel Gaps and Efalex and employing the services of a special education teacher and a speech therapist we were getting some results, but it was very slow. After much deliberation we decided to take the advice of Liam’s Paediatrician and start him on a trial of Ritalin. Even though I was pleased with the improvements I did not want Liam to continue on the medication indefinitely.
In November last year I was introduced to your work by Cherie Borger of Vitality Health and Wellbeing. After a lengthy consultation with you we were inspired by your gentle and safe methods and decided to go ahead with the initial program. Since this time we have seen some huge changes in our son. It has been a very difficult few years but finally we have some relief from the stress and the pressure. Liam is doing so much better in class. His concentration is better, his focus is great, homework is easier and his reading and writing have improved dramatically. Liam is also more confident and happier. The results of the program have been amazing.
We thank you and your team for your support over the last six months and feel confident that Liam will continue to develop to his fullest potential.

Gemma Doesn't like School
Gemma has been to Speech Pathogists who made minor changes, we have had meetings with class teachers and the special needs teachers, she has had tutoring at home and at an after-school centre. We have visited Optometrists who said there were no problems until we found a Behavioural Optometrist, Susan Walton, who was great help. Her hearing has been checked and is perfect. As a toddler our child saw an Osteopath who said she was fine. A family friend who is interested in visual-spatial learning, spent time with Gemma.
Gemma commented that she wanted school to be easier for her like it is for her friends.
Gemma doesn’t like school. She is in the lowest spelling group and has an aide for maths. She never chooses to read and feels the stigma of school work not coming easily to her. She loathes having to write a story. Finding schoolwork difficult affects her socially and lowers her self-esteem.
We could certainly spend the money we are spending on the Chiropractor on a lot of other things on our material “wish list”. What good is having all these things if our child is miserable and feels weighed down due to a misaligned spine?
After attending the chiropractor for a few weeks and over the school holidays, Gemma returned to school and commented “that school seemed a bit easier and there were less distractions”. When helping her with her homework she “gets it” when I explain something, whereas before it was as though the lights were not turned on.
I feel we have a new child after just six weeks of chiropractic care. She has more confidence, she is happy and content within herself, she is not agitated or upset. It is as though 20 bricks have come off her shoulders – maybe even 50.
It is like the true Gemma was trapped inside and now has the chance to shine through.
Neck & Low Back Pain
I originally elected to have a chiropractic consultation after experiencing on going neck and lower back pain. My general energy levels were at an all time low and generally felt lethargic.
After my first couple of adjustments my discomfort was dramatically relived and my energy levels continued to improve over the following weeks.
Candice explained the benefits and causes of each improvement along the way.
I cannot express strongly enough my recommendation for anyone who wants more out of life to partake in ongoing chiropractic care. This clinic excels in delivering exceptional patient care.

Back Pain
I am 91 years old and I have had back pain for as long as I can remember. An episode in 2008 caused extra pain and since that time all things were more difficult to achieve. My next door neighbour recommended the “Family Chiropractic Centre” in April, 2008. Since I have had regular chiropractic care, daily activities have become a lot more easier to achieve – lucky me! I can even play golf again.

Neck & Upper Back Pain
5 years after a disabling vehicle accident (lady driver) I was still suffering neck & upper back pain, consuming about 10 Panadol & Panadol forte tablets per day for pain relief.
My attendances in these 5 years to orthopaedic specialists produced no promise of pain relief or my dependence on analgesics. When I retired from active employment some 8 years ago I decided to try alternative treatment and contacted the Family Chiropractic Centre at Charlestown and discussed my ongoing problem with Dr. Dorte Bladt. After viewing my x-ray, where she pointed out & even I (untrained medic) could see the problem – my spine was bent. Dr. Bladt said she could fix it.
After only 3 weeks of adjustments I was free of headache & neck pain for the first time in 5 years. I am deeply indebted to Dr. Bladt for that relief and still attend to her adjustments when I am in Newcastle. I am now able to enjoy social Tennis, Golf, Karate & motorcycling. Further to the above, about 1 year ago I experienced a (men’s) groin problem & after viewing the x-ray of my lower spine she was again confident of fixing that problem, but stated that it would be long term before positive results. The results have been slow but encouraging for further treatment.
Later, last year two sporting injuries to my right knee and left shoulder are also being treated and are progressing towards final healing faster than I expected. I have passed on my total confidence in Dr. Bladt’s efforts to several people known to me and all have been more than happy with the results.
At 77 years of age, I was surprised that chiropractic adjustments could produce such positive results and indeed regard Dr. Bladt as my “Healing Angel”.
